When Marketing Started to Compound: Code Enigma

Building a structured marketing system from scattered activity over 12 months

Code Enigma had marketing activity, but no real structure behind it. Things were happening, just not in a way that built momentum.

We worked with them over 12 months to put a clear system in place, grounded in consistent messaging.

The challenge

Marketing didnโ€™t sit clearly with anyone internally.

Different people contributed. Things got published. But there was no single thread holding it together.

  • No clear ownership of marketing
  • Messaging varied depending on who was writing
  • Channels were active, but not aligned
  • Output was sporadic rather than consistent

The issue wasnโ€™t a lack of effort. It was a lack of structure.

What we did

We built a system the team could rely on, without needing to build a full internal function.

  • Defined clear ICPs to anchor who they were speaking to
  • Established a core narrative to guide all messaging
  • Built a multi-channel approach across blog, email, PPC, and social
  • Introduced repeatable content and distribution structures
  • Delivered through defined monthly scopes to keep momentum and focus

This gave marketing a centre of gravity.

โ€œBefore this, marketing depended on who had time. Now it runs with a clear structure behind it.โ€

The outcome

Marketing became more consistent, more connected, and started to compound.

  • Inbound leads increased by 66% year-on-year
  • LinkedIn engagement reached 5โ€“8% monthly
  • Email performance stayed consistently strong, with read and click rates above 50%
  • A recent re-engagement campaign reached a 92% read rate
  • Blog engagement improved, with average read times reaching ~90 seconds

More importantly, everything started working together.

When marketing had structure, it didnโ€™t just run. It built momentum.

โ€œWeโ€™d tried different things before, but nothing really stuck. This gave us a clearer way to approach it and something we could build on.โ€
